CORONAVIRUS UPDATE<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We’re looking forward to welcoming all of you in great health to the Melbourne Indie Film Festival 2020 Events to celebrate life and the power of storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n

IMPORTANT INFORMATION UPDATE 18TH MARCH:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

THE MELBOURNE INDIE IS BIG IN THE HEART AND WE LOVE SUPPORTING AS MANY INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS AS WE CAN BY SHOWCASING THEIR BEST WORKS AND SHARING THEIR STORIES, BUT IS ONLY A “PETIT” EVENT, FOR LESS THAN 70 PEOPLE AT THE SCREENING EVENTS.<\/span><\/p>\n

**FROM 18TH MARCH 2020, WE’RE CUTTING OUR CAPACITY IN HALF, FOR ONLY 35 PEOPLE<\/span> INSTEAD. TO GIVE EXTRA SPACE BETWEEN EVERYBODY. **<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

HOW ARE YOU FEELING?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

All team members, participants and patrons are advised to remain at home if showing any signs of illness, shortness of breath or cold\/flu symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n

We recommend that everyone read and follow the advices from the Department of Health and Human Services for Coronavirus and please do not attend the festival if you are feeling unwell.<\/span><\/p>\n

YOUR HEALTH IS PRIORITY<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Melbourne Indie Film Festival is passionate about bringing the community together, connecting and inspiring people.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are lots of concerns everywhere about Coronavirus and public spaces causing major public events being cancelled.<\/span><\/p>\n

The health and safety of our participants and patrons is the most important thing for us.<\/span><\/p>\n

For now, the festival will go on as planned and we are monitoring advice from health authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

If there are any changes in our planned events, we will notify all of you via email and update across our social media channels.<\/span><\/p>\n

By now, the authorities have ordered to postpone events with more than 100 people. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Melbourne Indie is big in the heart, but in event size, is a \u201cpetit\u201d event, in which we our main screening space is for 70 people.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

WORKING WITH OUR TEAM AND VENUE<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Hygiene is one of the important factors in stopping the spread of Coronavirus and any other viruses. <\/span><\/p>\n

We are working with our venue The Post St Kilda, which management and staff are committed to ensuring that the health and safety of all costumers and fellow colleagues are not compromised in any way. Extra measures are put into place to increase hygiene, including extra cleaning and the placement of hand sanitizers throughout the venue.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are working closely with our team to make sure they are following strong hygiene protocols and to not attend the festival if they are unwell for any reason.<\/span><\/p>\n

GOOD HYGIENE IS A MUST FOR ALL OF US<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

We are asking all participants and visitors to the Melbourne Indie to be vigilant about personal hygiene and their health.<\/span><\/p>\n

This includes regular hand washing, using sanitizer and limiting contact.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE AUTHORITIES CALL ON A CITY SHUT DOWN?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

We are fighters here, warriors of the arts, keeping on THE SHOW MUST GO ON spirit!<\/span><\/p>\n

We are keeping great faith and hope while carrying on preparing everything to keep up with the tasks for the festival going ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

For everybody who booked travels, if on last minute we were forced to postpone if the authorities force a city shut down, travel companies are regularly adapting to the situations according to the government safety guidelines, for example, Airbnb notified everybody that now they are fully refunding everything including Airbnb fees if people need to cancel travels.<\/span><\/p>\n
